wearing your heart on your sleeve

i know yall are all jealous. everybody wants a shirt like this. i'm about the get one and wear it whenever i am going to eat padek. but mine will be a dark blue... i'll post a picture when i get it. and i'm not taking orders. i'm trying to be original.

well, honestly, i can't say i'm being too original since it was kone's idea, and he's the one having them special-made. that's him in the picture; face sold separately.

culinary traditions, activists, and dog collars

start by reading this article here:

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=CNG.58e43efdbb6421d6ae4c5241e9b944e4.4a1&show_article=1

so i've talked about this before... and so i won't write too much here for fear of alienating a few people. but i do think there is a big difference between eating an animal that has been raised for consumption and eating an animal that was someone's pet. so i will need to rethink what i eat when i get to Laos next time. (reading this article makes me question my culinary decisions while abroad.)

i am not making any lenten-style promises here, but i'm really wondering if maybe i should just say no... thanks (like, yeah, thanks a lot) to jacob for making me aware of this article.

bus stop "vandalism"

this is the bus stop at mlk jr. way south and massachusetts. probably a more appropriate way to vandalize. i think it must have been sanctioned by someone somewhere.

vandalism

i don't usually support people defacing public property with their graffiti scribbles or posters or by relieving themselves. but these posters have been appearing all over seattle for years. and they make me happy. it's always a fun surprise to find one that has randomly popped up on an electrical box, road sign, or a concrete wall in chinatown.

seattle's lao know how to represent.
