ketsana
in late september, the typhoon ketsana hit the philippines and went on to hit vietnam, Laos and cambodia. see pictures below from vietnam, the philippines, and cambodia.

The photo of the 3 little dogs being rescued ripped my heart out. I always think of the animals in situations like this (because of what happened with abandoned dogs & cats during Hurricane Katrina). So glad I did not live in N.O. during Katrina. If I'd been told I could not board a bus with my precious Ginger, I would have gotten off & stayed behind to await my fate. Thankfully the laws have been changed & animals are permitted in shelters & on buses, etc.
